Forgettable Debut For Cards/Mils

The Yorkton Cardinals were held to 4 hits, and they committed 4 errors in an 11-5 opening night loss to the Regina Red Sox.

The Cards led 1-0 after three innings, but a 3-run fifth, and a 5-run 7th vaulted the Red Sox out in front.

Former Melville Millionaire James Green, now a Cardinal, had 2 of Yorkton's 4 hits, and reached base in all 5 plate appearances with a pair of singles, a walk, hit by a pitch, and reached on an error.

Yorkton had the bases loaded in the bottom of the first inning with no outs, and the heart of their order at the plate, but they failed to score any runs.

The Cards travel to Regina on Friday, and head to Weyburn Saturday/Sunday.

Melville's bats were also pretty quiet.

The Mils managed just three hits as they fell 9-2 in Moose Jaw. The Miller Express are a perfect 3-and-0 on the season, and cranked out 13 hits last night.

Melville's scheduled to host the Millers tonight, 7:05 at Pirie Field

Did Green choose Yorkton over Melville or did Melville choose not to offer him a chance to return? You don't see many WMBL Americans switching teams.
