Mils 2 @ Terriers 1 (SO) / MJ Showcase

The Melville Millionaires took round one in this year's Highway 10 rivalry, with a 2-1 shootout victory in Yorkton on Friday.

Roger Tagoona opened the scoring for Melville late in the first period, the rookie's 3rd goal of the season. Then, after a scoreless second, Terrier Captain Blaine Tendler notched his 4th of year on a powerplay early in period three.

The two teams went to OT in a 1-1 tie, and eventually to a shootout, where Kyle Jahraus, who stopped 33/34 shots through regulation and overtime, also stopped all three Terrier shooters (Eisenhut, Tendler, Breitkreuz) in the shootout.

Justin Hollinger hit the post on Melville's first shot, and Mark Owen beat Devin Peters (who stopped 25/26) for the win.

The two clubs do it all over again tonight (SAT) in Melville.

=============

As posted below, the Wayway Wolverines routed Steinbach 6-1 to open up the first full day of the MJHL Showcase.

Following that, Shelby Gray scored two goals and added one assist in a 3-2 win over the Addison Division first place Winkler Flyers. Brad McDonald had Swan's other goal.

That makes the Stamps 7-and-3 through 10 games.

Former Stampeder Paul Bonar recorded a hat trick, including the OT winner in a 4-3 Winnipeg Blues win over Portage. The Blues were the only Addison Division team to win on Friday, with Wayway, Swan, Dauphin and OCN all posting victories over Addison opponents.

Saturday's action includes Wayway vs Wpg Saints, and Swan vs Selkirk.

It's an extra long weekend for this blogger/radio guy! Taking Tuesday as well, and will be back Wednesday for Wayway @ Swan Valley.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Sounds like Wells played a solid game in net for the Swan Valley win.

With Ciolfi on the bench, would you use a d-man Tendler in a shootout? Cassan's done a good job so far, but thats a mistake.

Meh, if tendler scores Trent's a genious. Ciolfi breitkreuz and mcdonell were all stopped in ND. Just changing it up I'm sure.
