Swan Valley, Foam Lake Advance to 9-Man Provincials

Thanks to Darren Dupont's top-notch 9-Man Football website, www.saskgridiron.com I was able to find out the weekend's East-Central 9-Man semi final scores.

Lumsden over Melville 53-20 on Friday

Swan over Sacred Heart 38-29 on Saturday

Lumsden gets the #1 seed from the conference and will host Delisle in Provincials on Halloweeen. Swan Valley gets the #2 seed and will travel to Rosetown. I'm not sure what MapQuest.ca says about that trip, but that's gotta be a huge hike! They're literally the width of Saskatchewan away from eachother. Still a neat story to see Swan River, MB, competing in Saskatchewan Provincials! They earned it. Crappy thing about the provincial draw is the Tigers will never host a game even if they go all the way to the final.

In the North East Conference, Foam Lake beat Nipawin 51-18, and will visit Maple Creek on Saturday. Wynyard was eliminated by Humboldt, 61-26.

So as far as our local area goes, it's basically just Swan and Foam Lake competing in Provs, but we'll keep a close eye on Lumsden, given that they're in the EC conference.
