First off, here's the Scouting Report from mjhlhockey.ca.
Game Within The Game
Wayway's Jason Bolwes vs Portage's Eric Delong.
Both #15. Both first line centres. Both tied for second in MJHL scoring with 39 points in 19 games.
Goaltenders' Duel
Statistically, tonight's game features the top two goaltenders in the league. Wayway's Jayme Janzen tops the MJHL with a 2.13 GAA and a .934 save %. Portage tender Bryan Mountain is second in both categories among starters with 2.20 GAA and a .919 save percentage.
First Meeting, But Many More to Come
Division rivals meet 8 times during the regular season, and this is only the first time these two Sherwood opponents square off, but they'll hook up four times during the month of November. Of Wayway's 14 games in November, 11 of them are against teams with records above .500. Portage (4), Dauphin (2), OCN (2), Selkirk (2), and the Saints (1).
Big Points on the Line
Portage leads the Sherwood and the MJHL with 32 points. Wayway's third in the Sherwood with 27. The gap could be anywhere from 3 to 7 after tonight's game. Heading into tonight's action, Dauphin's got 28 points (2nd), OCN has 24 (4th), and Swan Valley starting to creep up with 19 (5th). Neepawa (6th) has 12.
Dew Pays Dividends
Since coming over from the Yorkton Terriers, forward Logan Dew has 5 points (2-3-5) in two games. He led last night's offensive charge with 2 goals and an assist in a 7-1 win over OCN.
Time Change
With Manitoba's clock's moving back early this morning, this marks our first game of the season with MB and SK on the same time. On either side of the border, it's a 6:20 Pre Game Show, 6:30 Play by Play tonight. Talk to you then!
