- Saturday treated both the Swan Valley Stampeders and Wayway Wolverines good. The Stamps beat Winkler 3-1 on goals by Myles Stevens, Cody Straker and Devin Reinhardt. Chris Ward made 22 saves in the win. The Wolverines hammered the visiting OCN Blizzard 7-1. OCN's Zeanan Buternowski opened the scoring (his 19th goal in his 19th game), but the Wolverines got the next seven, including 2 from Logan Dew. Dew has 5 points in 2 games since coming over from Yorkton. Also scoring were Cody Danychuk, Ryan Duhaime, Richard Little, Jordan Auger and Ryan Regel. Jason Bowles had 2 assists, giving him 39 points on the season. Jayme Janzen got the win, making 22 saves. The Wolverines take on the first place Portage Terriers for the first time tonight (SUN), and it'll be the first of four meetings in the month of November. We'll have the broadcast, starting with the Pre Game Show at 6:20.
- Both local High School Football teams who were in Provincial Semi Finals today won their games, and are heading to the finals next weekend (Nov 8). The Foam Lake Panthers beat the Meadow Lake Spartans 36-29 and will host Humboldt on Saturday. Humboldt snuck by Lumsden 31-29 to advance. In 2A 6-Man, the Preeceville Panthers won 38-33 on the road over Biggar to head to the Provincial Final for the first time in their school's history. Preeceville heads back on the road on Saturday and will take on the defending Provincial Champs from Clavet, who beat Aberdeen 59-22 in the semis.
- HOME PLAYOFF GAME FOR THE RIDERS!!! It sure felt weird cheering for the Calgary Stampeders, but even with their backups in during the second half, they managed to beat the B.C. Lions 41-30, clinching the Riders (12-6) second place and home field against the Lions (11-7) in the West Semi Final. I'll be there on Saturday.
