In the lobby before the game, I said to Wayway Ass't Coach Jim Fuyarchuk, "I think these guys are due for a loss tonight." He smiled and said, "I hope you're right!"
I guess I was.
The Wolverines handed Portage just their fourth loss of the season, and first since October 21st with a 4-3 win on the road. It was a nice way to end a 3 game road trip for the Wolverines, after suffering losses to Selkirk Friday and the Winnipeg Saints on Saturday.
Wayway's leading scorer Jason Bowles was held off the stats sheet for the second straight night, but several others picked up the slack. Logan Dew had a goal and 2 assists, Paul Marcoux had 3 helpers, Jerrett Bicknell had a pair of assists, while Preston McLeod, Dave Lamouche and Cody Danychuk all scored.
Jayme Janzen made 33 saves on 36 shots for the win.
