- It's been over a month since I've been out of Yorkton aside from work-related things, so I'm heading to Saskatoon after work. It'll be a quick trip, be back tomorrow night so I can leave for Portage by 1:00 on Sunday.
- I heard it's Halloween today. Some people celebrate that their whole lives, but I haven't dressed up since Grade 6. To me, it's one of those VERY annoying commercial holidays that stores gear towards little kids. Speaking of which, I'm hearing some stores around town already have Christmas stock coming in. I love Christmas, but again, WAY too commercial for this cowboy.
- Oh ya, about the picture. Two local teams are in High School Football Provincial Semi-Finals this weekend. The Foam Lake Panthers (9-Man) host the Meadow Lake Spartans Saturday at 1:00. While the Preeceville Panthers travel to take on the Biggar Blazers (2A 6-Man).
- The Riders stole a win in Toronto last (THU) night. But we'll take it. WHY would the Argos try a direct snap on a punt on 3rd and 9 deep in their own territory? Equally as stupid, why did Michael Bishop THROW the ball deep with 20 seconds left, already in field goal position. Ended up getting a pass interference call and eventually a TD, but yikes. He is their most talented quarterback but he scares the crap out of me. Reminds me of the old Henry Burris, when he'd pile up the yards but throw tonnes of picks. Riders will play B.C. in the playoffs and need the Lions to lose Saturday afternoon in Calgary in order to host the West Division Semi. Got my ticket booked... hopefully there's a game!
- The next week could get a little boring with the Yorkton Terriers and Melville Millionaires both off until next Friday. The positive is each team is coming off wins and should enjoy a well deserved week off. Our next 3 broadcasts are all in the MJHL... Wayway @ Portage Sunday... Swan Valley @ OCN Wednesday... Wayway @ Portage again next Sunday.
- The Yorkton Harvest are at home twice this weekend... Saturday at 7:30 and Sunday at 2:00 against the Swift Current Legionnaires.
- November's here already?
