Perfect Weekend For Mils/Cards

The Melville Millionaires saw their record climb to 10-and-8 after a 2-game sweep in Moose Jaw over the Miller Express.

Saturday: Mils 6 - Millers 5

Paul Lamanita hit his 3rd homerun of the season, a 3-run shot. Clean-up man Casey Justice was 3-for-4 on the night, while Catcher Ryan Hasbini, SS Josh Frederico, and LF Nick Senior all had 2 hits.

Sunday: Mils 12 - Millers 8

The Millionaires trailed 8-7 after seven innings, but scored 5 times in the top of the 8th, much in thanks to a Casey Justice Grand Slam. James Green was 1-for-2 with 3 walks and 3 runs. Ruston Harris went 3-for-4 with an RBI and 3 runs, as the Mils cranked out 13 hits, and 8 of their starting 9 had at least one base knock.

Melville pitching struck out 10 Moose Jaw batters, including starter Wayland Moore's 8 K's over 6 innings. Josh Haun worked the final 2.2 innings, his first appearance of the season, to pick up the win.

The Mils are back at home tonight (WED) against Saskatoon.

Saturday: Cards 12 - Regina 4

Yorkton picked up a much-needed win Saturday in Regina. The Cards were mired in a 5-game losing skid, going up against the league's top team at the time, and rolled to a 12-4 decision.

Yorkton's 16-hit attack was led by LF John Mihic's 4-for-5, 1 RBI, 2R performance. Duncan McAlpine ripped his 3rd home run of the season, and his brother Thomas added his team-leading 13th RBI.

The Cardinals are also on home field tonight, against the Weyburn Beavers. Yorkton goes into action a half game back of Weyburn for 3rd in the WMBL East Division.
