YORKTON UNITED U16/18 CYCLONES HAVE A BUSY NEXT FOUR DAYS

Submitted by Alex Giannoulis

The Yorkton United Cylones U16/18 Boys Soccer Team has a busy schedule ahead that sees them playing four games in as many days.

The Cyclones' first game gets underway Thursday (today) as they host the RE U18 Matrix at the Parkland Mall Field. The match is set to get underway at 6:30 p.m.

On Friday, the Cyclones host yet another match, this time against the Moose Jaw U16 Storm. The game time time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Parkland Mall Field.

On Saturday, the Cyclones travel to Regina for a game against the ACFC U18 Pumas. This will be the second game of the RSA Cup for the Cyclones, having defeated the RE U18 Matrix 3-1 on June 13th. The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. Realtors West Field.

The Cylones will conclude their four-day schedule on Sunday evening with a 3:45 meeting with the AC U16 Pumas Gold in Regina at Realtors West Field. The Cyclones are currently tied with the RE U18 Matrix for first place in league standings.

The Cyclones' record, an impressive 7-1-0-0, gives them 21-points.

The team captain, Matthew Okrainec, is impressed with what his team has accomplished so far this season: "Well, the team has played great all over the field, starting in the back, giving little chances from the opposition and having scored many goals to win seven league games. The loss at the beginning of the year was a result of only playing with 8 guys, but from there on in, its been all positive. We lost the Aurora Tournament in Saskatoon in the final due to a 1-0 loss, but we got some great competition and only look to build on our success. We head to the Regina Summerfest where we hope to bring home gold. Our main goal is to win provincials at the end of July. We are looking forward to one more win for the RSA Cup Championship and a few more wins to bring home the league title. Hopefully, we can do it all."

The Cyclones are coached by Alfredo Bermudez, who was recently inducted into the Yorkton Sports Hall of Fame.
