Cards Even Record at 1-1

Thomas McAlpine (pictured) went 4-for-4 with 3 RBI and the Yorkton Cardinals won their first road game of the year, 6-5 in Weyburn.

The Cards had an early 5-0 lead, but the hometown Beavers tied it with 5 runs in the 6th inning. Yorkton added the eventual winning run in the top of the 7th.

SS Preston Lyon went 3-for-5 with an RBI, and is now 5-for-9 (.556) at the plate in the young season.

Yorkton takes Thursday off, but then get busy. They play 5 games in 5 nights from Friday to Tuesday, with road games in Regina and Melville Friday and Saturday, and home games against Moose Jaw Sunday, and Saskatoon Monday/Tuesday.

The Melville Millionaires open their season Friday against Weyburn, 7:05 at Pirie Field.
