Swan Valley 8 @ Winkler 3The Stamps are 4-and-2 out of the gates, surprising a lot of people, at least outside their own locker room.
Josh Hohn got into his first action of the season, and made 38 saves in an 8-3 Swan Valley victory. The Stampeders continue to get production out of Darcy Riddell (2g, 1a) Ryan Marshall (2g) and Carter Selinger (2a), who combined for 7 more points on Sunday afternoon. Swan's Brent Wilson (pictured) leads all defenseman in scoring with 10 points (3g, 7a) after a 4-assist effort in Winkler. Myles Stevens scored twice for the Stampeders, while Chris Reimer, Jeff Peel, and Matt Valley also found the net. Newcomer Eric Herbel had 2-assists. Herbel was brought over from the Melfort Mustangs in exchange for Brooks Christensen earlier in the week.
OCN 1 @ Wayway 3
The Wolverines picked up their first win of the season and now sit 1-and-2 after a 3-1 home ice win over the OCN Blizzard. Ryan Regel sniped a pair... former Yorkton Terrier Gabe Gardipy had a goal and an assist, while Niko Grose added 2 helpers. Wayway was actually heavily out-shot, but Jayme Janzen stopped 40 of the 41 shots he faced. Wayway acquired 20 F Dan Kelsey from the Winnipeg South Blues over the weekend. Kelsey picked up a respectable 18g and 41p in 56 games with the Blues last season.
------------------
I just got back from the Rider game... disappointing to say the least... lost on a couple brain farts including a blown coverage when it mattered most. Oh well, still 1st place, but back into a 3-way tie with the Esks and Stamps.
