Stamps Drop First Pre-Season Game

While the Swan Valley Stampeders and Dauphin Kings did dress a similar amount of veterans in the season's first exhibition game Tuesday in Dauphin, the Kings fielded likely their four top forwards, and it was Ryan Dreger (2g, 1a), Bryce Lamb (pictured) (1g, 2a), Shane Luke (3a) and Alias Kalinsky (1g, 1a) doing the bulk of the damage in a 7-3 win.

It was all vets doing the scoring for the Stampeders as well, with Jeff Peel, Ryan Griffiths and Darcy Riddell finding the net in each period.

The Stamps led 1-0, and trailed 2-1 at the midway point of the game, when the Kings exploded for four goals in 1:27 to blow things open.

Dauphin out-shot Swan 41-24, with 4 rookies sharing the duties between the pipes. Swan Valley's Brett McDonald (younger brother of returning forward Brad) made 28 saves on 30 shots, while a cold Mason Riley came off the bench in the second period and allowed 5 goals on 11 shots.

The two teams meet again tonight in at the Centennial Arena in Swan River @ 7:30.
