The Melville Cobras visit the Foam Lake Panthers tonight for what's set to be the province's first ever 9-man football game under the lights.
Foam Lake Panthers' Coach Bill Ruetz
"For the first time to our knowledge, we'll hold a 9-Man game under the lights in rural Saskatchewan. We'll renew an old rivalry, the Melville Cobras and the Panthers. We rented portable lights from a rental company, it has been done in a 6-Man game before, so we kind of stole the idea, and we're excited about it.
If it goes over well would you do this again?
"It has been talked about, of course dollars and cents always come into play. But if it works well and we get a good crowd I'm sure we'd do it again for sure.
How's this year's Panthers' squad shaping up?
"Every year we lose key guys, but for some reason, our kids coming up seem to step in. We do have some key figures coming back, our offensive backfield will be strong again, our runningback's returning and he'll be our workhorse, he'll take us a long way.
Foam Lake-Melville rivalry...
"It's a HUGE rivalry. We played them for years and we had great games... its was always Foam Lake-Melville, Foam Lake-Melville. Now that we're not in the same conference anymore we don't see eachother very much. We're trying to renew the rivalry, it's only a short little drive for both teams... this is going to be great.
Admission for tonight's game is $5 for adults, $3 for students. Kick-off is set for 7:30.
