There couldn't be a worse time of year for this to happen, but the Swan Valley Stampeders will be without three players for the next three games.
All suspensions stem from the third period of Swan Valley's home game against Dauphin on Wednesday of this week.
F Jeff Riddell and D Brendan Mitchell are both suspended for 3 games for taking part in 'staged' fights.
D Colton Magwood receives a 3 game suspension as an automatic result of the match penalty picked up on Wednesday.
The Stampeders were also fined a total of $600 ($300 per staged fight).
The English definition of a staged fight is when two combatants decide prior to the puck being dropped that they're going to go... not, for example, in the heat of the moment, a reaction to a dirty hit, after pushing and shoving, after the whistle, etc.
Riddell, Mitchell and Magwood will all miss three critical games, tonight in Neepawa, tomorrow against Wayway at home, and Monday in Wayway. The Stamps & Wolverines are currently tied for 3rd place, the final playoff spot in the Sherwood Division, with 5 games remaining. All three can return when the Stamps host OCN on Wednesday.
Stamps @ Natives on the air tonight, Pre Game Show at 7:20, Play-by-Play at 7:30.
