Local Kootenay Defensemen Set For Memorial Cup

John Neibrandt and Joey Leach leave for Mississauga, ON Wednesday morning, where they, and their Kootenay Ice teammates will battle the Host St. Mike's Majors, OHL Champion Owen Sound Attack, and QMJHL Champion Saint John Sea Dogs in the 2011 Memorial Cup. The Ice have won 15 of their last 16 games, going 16-3 in the WHL playoffs, with series wins over Moose Jaw (4-2), Saskatoon (4-0), Medicine Hat (4-0), and Portland (4-1) en route to a Western Hockey League championship.

wasnt happy when they beat out the Tigers but they have a heck of a team, hope they bring the Mem Cup home! I think your going to see a very well balanced Mem Cup this year with a Tie Breaker next Fri! Wont be long before we see another Ice coach in the big leagues!

Coach Kris Knoblauch is from the booming metropolis of Imperial, SK... 7 miles outside of my hometown of Simpson!
