Lucky 7 Again, Terriers Up 2-0

(Devin Peters is 3-0, 1.00 GAA, .971%, 1 SO in 2011 playoffs)

For a second straight night, the Yorkton Terriers scored 7 times, and this time, Devin Peters stopped all 32 shots he faced as the Terriers blanked Kindersley 7-0, and grab a 2-0 series lead.

Brenden Poncelet, Jeremy Boyer and Craig Eisenhut scored twice each, while Robbie Ciolfi added his league-leading 8th goal of the post season.

It looked like Zak Majkowski may have tipped Boyer's second goal, at least by the celebration. Nathan Murray had three assists, as the Murray-Paterson-Poncelet trio was tough to handle down low again. Is there a better "third line" in the league?

Through 2 games, that line has 4 goals, Breitkreuz-Ciolfi-Buzzeo have 3, and Eisenhut-Boyer-Majkowski have 6.

The 4th line of McLeod-Lamontagne-Dumais haven't scored, but they haven't been scored on either, and have had their chances. McLeod laid a solid, clean hit on Zane Morin in the first period, David Haaf took exception, and the young rookie held his own, drew an instigator call, and the Terriers scored on the powerplay. Morin punched Dumais in the side of the head in the 2nd period, got 5 and a game. Terriers scored on that powerplay too... so the 4th line's getting their noses dirty and drawing penalties, even if they're not scoring.

Speaking of the PP... 1/16 in the playoffs going into Game Two, 3/6 in Game 2. The Klippers had an early 5-on-3 and a late one as well, but the Terriers preserved Peters' shutout, his 1st in all of this season, and 2nd career as a Terrier. Kindersley was 0/9 with the PP, now 1/16 in the series.

Now, it really doesn't matter if the scores were 7-2 and 7-0, or 2-1 and 3-2 in overtime... it's a 2-0 series lead, and the series shifts to Kindersley on Tuesday, a place where Klipper losses were rare. The Klippers need to grab Games 3 and 4, and they've got the horses to do exactly that. No Johnny Calkins in Game 2 really hurt the Klippers. He led the SJHL in assists this season with 68, and is flanked by two of the league's best snipers in Dommett and Adamyk. I think he's the straw that stirs that line's drink.

Games 3 and 4 go Tuesday and Wednesday in Kindersley. We'll have both games, with the Pre Game Shows at 7:15, Play-by-Play at 7:30.

is leedahl getting some kind of discipline for his actions at the end of the game? which is a hard slap shot after the buzzer that hit a terrier in the back of the head.

Anonymous: Didn't McMullen glove down Leedahl's shot at the Terrier blueline? (which had to hurt!) While not exactly neceassary, I thought the shot was right at the buzzer. They were pushing hard to break Petey's shutout and he tried one last looooong shot at the end. Can't see a suspension from that.

Clansman: Nothing wrong with being glued to the radio!

Leedahl shot the puck after the final horn. He hit a Terrier in the back. McMullen did not glove it down. I did see the ref go to the timekeepers box right after he shot the puck and I see by the stats he got a game misconduct but will that sit him out for game 3?
