- The Terriers will be without veteran D Brant Remenda for tonight's key Sherwood Conference matchup in Kindersley. Under the new Junior 'A' Supplement, players receive a one game suspension after their 6th fighting major of the season. The team also receives a $500 fine. A 7th fight would mean a 2-game suspension and $1000. Remenda had 5 fights in Nipawin, and his 6th was Sunday against Notre Dame.
- No Remenda for the Terriers tonight is a big hole, considering the Klippers have one of, if not the deepest forward units in the league. The Dommett-Calkins-Adamyk line has caught fire of late, with Calkins all of a sudden in the scoring race conversation. He's 4th in the league with 76 points in 47 games, 8 back of former Klipper Travis Eggum. Could you imagine if they still had him? Remenda out likely means Troy Dumais goes back on D tonight. Remenda's back in the lineup tomorrow in Battleford.
- Tonight's game will feature the reigning SJHL Player of the Week (Jeremy Boyer, Yorkton)... And Defenseman of the Week (Sean Flanagan, Kindersley).
- Catch the second intermission for my full chat with Jeff Odgers, who spoke to the crowd at the Terriers' Sportmans Dinner on Saturday night. First INT is up in the air, but thinking of catching Boyer at the rink.
- It's a 4 point game in every sense of the term tonight. A Terrier win would by no means lock up first, but a 6 point lead with 10 games left would be a decent cushion. A Klipper win, and the gap would be cut to t
2, with another head-to-head meeting in Kindersley next month.
After tonight, both teams have 10 games left. The Klippers have 4 straight on the road (ND, WEY, EST, HUM), followed by 4 straight at home (WEY, HUM, YOR, MFT), and finish with a home-and-home with Battleford. So 5 home, 5 away, after tonight.
Going into tonight's game, the Terriers have just 4 games on home ice, compared to 7 on the road. (@KIN-BAT, vsND-BAT, @WEY, KIN, HUM, EST, vsLAR).
Safe to say this race is going down to the wire!
7:20 Pre-Game tonight, and we'll be keeping tabs on Melville, who's home to Estevan, and a huge MJHL game between our two local teams, with Swan Valley in Wayway.
