Another Empty Night For Three Local Clubs

The first win of 2011 continues to elude the Yorkton Terriers, who are now winless in seven, but did pick up a point in an entertaining, back-and-forth, 4-3 (SO) loss in Estevan on Wednesday.

The Terriers trailed 1-0 after one period, led 2-1 after two, and got down 3-2 before tying it midway through the third.

Justin Buzzeo (1g-1a), Clarke Breitkreuz (1g-1a) and Brent Struble scored for Yorkton, while Warren Shymko was forced to make 41/44 saves in goal for the Terriers.

In the shootout, Breitkreuz was stopped by Shea Cooper's left skate blade, Jeremy Boyer hit the post, and Buzzeo, who appeared to have a Nadem Kadri-like move in his bag of tricks, was poke-checked in the crease by Cooper.

Johnathan Ceci scored the shootout winner for Estevan, in his Bruins' debut.

Yorkton's now 0-5-1-1 in their last 7 games, and, will hold their first full practice with their new group on Thursday morning, before starting a 4 game homestand Friday, when Flin Flon comes to town for a pair of games Friday/Saturday. The Terriers also host Melfort Tuesday, and Notre Dame next Sunday.

--------------

The Kindersley Klippers stayed red-hot in Melville, and gained another point on the first place Yorkton Terriers with a 5-2 win over the Millionaires, the team that snapped their 8 game winnign streak Saturday in Kindersley. The Klippers are 2-0 since that loss, and are now 10-1 in their last 11.

The win leaves them 4 points out of first with a game in hand.

Braden Adamyk and John Calkins had 2g-2a each for Kindersley, while Melville got goals from Michael Rogoschewsky and Tyson Newell, who played forward last night.

The Mils went 0/9 with the PP, and gave up a short-handed goal.

Alex Sirard played the first period, stopping 8/11 shots. Zach Rakochy played the final 40 and stopped 25/27.

The Mils are off until Saturday when they host Weyburn.

-----------

The Wayway Wolverines out-shot the Dauphin Kings 39-28, but came up on the short end of a 3-2 decision in Dauphin.

Josh Daley scored in his Wolverines' debut against his old team, while Dave Williams had the other Wayway goal, and Ryan Duhaime added 2a.

The web has Brett Gagnon taking the loss in goal, with his WAYWAY TEAMMATE Ryan Benitez getting the win. This new site/stats are a borderline disaster.

One thing we DO know... is the Wolverines remain 6 points out of a playoff spot, and have now played one more game than Neepawa, the team they're trying to track down. They've got a HUGE 8 point weekend with the Natives, tomorrow (FRI) in Neepawa, Saturday at home. Could be anywhere from 2 to 10 points out of the race by time the weekend's over.

Neepawa also plays on Sunday, against what should be a well-rested Dauphin team, that doesn't play Friday or Saturday.

Swan Valley was off on Wednesday, and host Dauphin tonight (THU) in a makeup game, originally scheduled for December 15th.

Terriers need Vick back on the ice they miss his grit and hard nose play, when he plays the other teams know they have to play heads up or lose it, in the last four games Ive watched maybe a total of 17 good hits when Vick plays he has four hits a shift,he is missed by the team as well as the fans, hope he's able to play soon.

give these guys a couple of weeks and they will be flying, they need some time to play together. They will take both this weekend.

Hopefully Ciolfi and Vick will be back soon as well. This would be a big boost and provide a couple of different elements they don't currently have.
