Missed Opportunity As Wolverines Fall to Flyers

While it's only November, the Wayway Wolverines squandered a chance to claw out of the Sherwood Division basement for the first time this season, with a 5-3 loss at home against Winkler Sunday afternoon.

The Flyers were coming off losses in Swan Valley and OCN, and were playing their third game in 2.5 days.

Wayway did strike first, but surrendered the next five, which included 4 Winkler powerplay goals. The Wolverines added two more in the third to make it close, but fell short, and are now 0-2-1 in their last 3 games.

Dave Williams scored twice, giving him his third multi-goal game in his last 4 contests, while Shane Goodrunning added his team-leading 14th of the year.

The loss leaves Wayway 2 points back of Dauphin for 5th in the Sherwood, with a game in hand. Their next game is Tuesday, against the Kings, in Dauphin.
