Opening Night Win For Terriers

Clarke Breitkreuz and newcomer Robbie Ciolfi had a goal and an assist each, while 17-year-old defenseman Devon McMullen added 3 assists to lead the Yorkton Terriers to a 5-2 win over the Weyburn Red Wings.

Riley Paterson, Zak Majkowski and Drew McDermott also scored for the Terriers, who scored 4 third period goals and out-shot the Wings 33-25.

Devin Peters made 23 saves to earn the win.

The Terriers are off until Wednesday, when they visit the Melfort Mustangs (7:30 on GX94).

---------------

After giving up a league-low 14 goals in 6 Pre-Season games, the Melville Millionaires have given up 13 in their first two regular season games.

The Mils dropped to 0-and-2, after a 7-3 loss in Estevan.

Zach Rakochy started the game, and gave up 5 goals on 10 shots, while Kyle Jahraus stopped 28/30 the rest of the way.

Joel Danyluk stopped 31/34 as his Bruins improved to 2-and-0.

Rookie Roger Tagoona had the Gordie Howe hat trick with a goal, assist, and a fight. Melville also got goals from Dane Bonish and Michael Rogoschewsky.

I could have sworn I'd checked the Swan Valley-Steinbach score, and it said Steinbach won 3-2.

Well, I was obviously wrong!

The Stamps won 5-4 in overtime and are 2-and-0 out of the gate.

Shelby Gray scored 3 times and added one assist, while Ryan Marshall had 3 helpers.

Eric Rochefort was the OT hero, scoring his 3rd goal of the year. Clark Byczynski added 2 assists from the backend, while Brent Wilson had a goal and an assist.

Dylan Wells made his Stamps' debut in goal, stopping 34 of the 38 shots he faced.

Looks like a line-brawl at the end of the second period, which likely means suspensions. Check out the Game Sheet.

We're on the air in Dauphin Sunday, when the 0-0-1 Wayway Wolverines take on the 1-0 Kings. Puck drop is 7:00 MB time.
