Regina's MacDonald Wins WMBL Triple Crown; Regular Season Done

The Melville Millionaires wrapped up their regular season with a pair of losses to Moose Jaw in a double header on Wednesday night, falling 5-4 and 3-0.

While the games meant nothing standings-wise, Moose Jaw, at the very least, sent a message that they can beat Melville, and do it at Pirie Field.

The two teams square off in Round 1 of the WMBL Playoffs starting Friday and Saturday in Melville.

Regina Red Sox 1B Mitch MacDonald captured a rare "Triple Crown" in the WMBL this season.

Rare, because seldom do power hitters also hit for average.

The Regina product led the Western Major Baseball League by a fair margin, in batting average (.476), homeruns (8) and RBI's (48).

He played in 36 games, and only went without a hit in three!

MacDonald and the Red Sox face Weyburn in the other WMBL Eastern Semi.
