The Swan Valley Stampeders are in the closest thing to a must-win situation without actually being in one tonight.
After a pair of 5-2 losses over the weekend to go down 2-games-to-none to the league-leading Dauphin Kings, Stamps' GM Guy Vestby says a 3-0 deficit is a place they sure don't wanna be.
"No, we certainly don't. We're still optimistic. Yes, we've lost two games, but I don't think we've played our best in this series yet. Our guys are committed to getting back to their winning ways and putting a full 60 minutes in. We just need to play OUR game, not (Dauphin's), and be disciplined. We weren't disciplined in Game 2, our guys lost control, and our powerplay's been dismal in the playoffs. If we can correct those things, I think we have a chance."
Swan Valley's powerplay is 0/9 in this series, and 8.6% in these playoffs.
Tonight's Game 3 of the MJHL Sherwood Final's on GX94, starting at 7:15 with the Pre Game Show... Play by Play at 7:30 Manitoba time.
Last night, the Winnipeg Saints took a 3-0 stranglehold on the Winkler Flyers in the Addison Division final, erasing a 3-1 third period deficit to beat the Flyers 4-3 in overtime.
Craig Simchuk potted the winner, and Simchuk and Blake Chartier led the Saints, both with a goal and 2 assists.
