Five Dauphin Kings had multiple goal games, and the Kings erupted with a 12-2 win over the Swan Valley Stampeders Wednesday night.
Devin Mitzner (3g, 1a), Mitch Czibere (2g), Zeanan Ziemer (2g), Troy Hunter (2g), Shane Luke (2g) and Bryce Lamb (1g, 3a) did the scoring, while every Dauphin King aside from tough guys Justin Michaud and Travis Cech had at least one point.
Shots on goal were 53-28 for Dauphin, and Jayme Janzen played the first two periods, allowing 9 goals on 41 shots, while Caden Unger allowed 3 goals on 12 third period shots. But, again, most of these goals were a) breakaways, b) odd-man rushes, c) wide-open in the slot, d) rebounds not a lot of help in the Stampeder zone.
A small silver lining for the Stamps? Their top line got on the board for the first time in the series, when Shelby Gray and Myles Stevens set up Chris Reimer for his 4th of the playoffs. That was also a powerplay goal, the first of the series for the Stampeders. Carter Selinger also scored, his 2nd in as many games, and 4th of these playoffs. Dauphin's powerplay went 4/8 on the night, they also scored once short-handed, and managed 7 even strength goals.
Swan Valley needs a home ice win tomorrow (FRI) at the Centennial Arena to prolong their season.
