Zaba Called To The Show

Yorkton product G Matt Zaba's been called recalled by the AHL's Hartford Wolfpack to the New Yorkton Rangers.

**Update** I talked to Matt's dad Darrell this afternoon, and he said Matt is likely just going to practice while the Rangers' backup Chad Johnson gets a start with Hartford in the AHL tonight. Then the two goalies are expected to switch back, which means Zaba likely won't actually suit up with the Rangers on this call-up. It's simply a move to get Johnson into some game action. The Rangers' previous backup Steve Valiquette is also down in Hartford after struggling with New York.

And to clarify one reader's comment below, this is Zaba's first call up during the regular season. He did however see some game action with the Rangers during the Pre Season.

yeah I think your right there Craig, it could have been pre-season, I just remember watching him on NHL Centre Ice. Nice to see him doing so well.
