Yorkton, Wayway Lose on the Road

The Yorkton Terriers lost in Notre Dame for the second time in four nights, dropping a 4-2 decision on Sunday.

This time though, the Terriers did manage to solve Matthew Smidt, who picked up a 31-save shutout on Thursday night, and followed that 27 saves on 29 Terrier shots.

Rylan McDonell was the first to beat Smidt, burying a Matt Chomyc pass just over 8 minutes into the second period to tie the game at one. Clark Byczynski's goal in the third period made it a 3-2 Hounds lead, but Notre Dame tacked on a late one for the 4-2 final.

Mitch Boucher, Andy Smith, Todd Christian and Travis Janke scored for the Hounds.

Yorkton's in Estevan Tuesday, home to Humboldt Friday, and in Notre Dame one final time on Sunday (GX94).

The Wayway Wolverines fell 6-2 in Portage on Sunday night.

Ryan Duhaime and Jens Meilleur scored for the Wolverines, who've now dropped their last 3 games.

Wayway welcomes the Swan Valley Stampeders tomorrow (TUE) night (7:20 / 7:30 on GX94).

The Yorkton Harvest earned a single point in Prince Albert, tying the Mintos 3-3. The Harvest were down 3-0 after the first period, before climbing back with two second period goals, and one more in the third. Yorkton lost 5-1 in Beardy's on Saturday.

The Harvest will spend Christmas break at the Mac's in Calgary for a second straight year.

Hey Craig,

What's the status of Terrier Defenceman Shawn Shackleton??? He told me he was probably done with the Terriers. What have you heard???

Shawn was re-assigned, I believe going to play Jr B in Alberta.

Shackleton, Lamontagne (Ochap Jr B), Derkach (Lanigan Senior), and Ballard (released, picked up by Selkirk MJHL) were the 4 re-assigned December 1st.
