Kozyra SHG Lifts Kings Over Stamps 5-3

First off, what a game!

Maybe the most fun I've ever had doing a regular season game.

The Dauphin Kings scored two first period goals, but the Swan Valley Stampeders answered with two of their own late in the second, from Myles Stevens (17) and Ryan Marshall (25). Chris Reimer (25) made it 3-2 Stamps just 10 seconds into the third period, and it looked like the Stampeders might just hang on, until Troy Hunter scored his second of the game midway through the period to tie it.

With 3:10 left, Dauphin's Justin Michaud took a roughing penalty, the Stamps called their 30 second timeout, but a costly turnover at the blueline led to a Dauphin 2-on-1, and Bryce Lamb found defenseman Patrick Kozyra for the short-handed, game winning goal with 2:24 left. Shortly after, the Kings took another penalty, giving the Stamps a :53 5-on-3. They had their chances but couldn't score, and Cody Esposito added an empty netter at the buzzer for the 5-3 final.

Dauphin's now 17 points up on Swan Valley atop the division, as the Stamps' winning streak ends at 5 games.

Jayme Janzen was the reason the Stamps were in the game, making 42/46 saves in the loss, while Joe Caligiuri stopped 32/35 in the win, as the Kings remain perfect at Credit Union Place this season (18-0). I don't know for sure, but I'm thinking that's likely the closest they've been to losing at home, down 3-2 until the 10:33 mark of the third.

Great game by both teams, and look forward to going to Dauphin again on January 8th.
