My take? Is there a such thing as "wrong" when selecting a Canadian Olympic team? Probably not. To me, I'm a little surprised at Boyle and Doughty on the backend, and I'm not 100% sold that Niedermayer is still top 7 when it comes to Canadian defensemen. Thought at least ONE Calgary Flame would make the blueline. Bergeron and Morrow could be "surprises" up front, but you need guys like that. Maybe a Morrow-Richards-Bergeron checking line? Not bad. Staal surprised me a little because he's having an off-year along with injuries. Likely Staal or Toews is the "13th forward", while the other might play the wing with Getzlaf and Perry. Assuming the San Jose line stays together, that leaves you wish Nash-Crosby-Iginla. Yikes.

This is a solid group, hopefully they can erase memories of Torino 2006! And hopefully just a month after a 6th straight World Junior Gold!

I don't think Scott Niedermayer is in the top 7 when it comes to Canadian defenceman. But to me you bring a Scott Niedermayer on board due to his experience in these big games. You need guys like him who have been to 'the show' many times and can calm down the young guys. With that said I think Scott will be a one of the big stories as an old dog proving he can still go.
