Terriers Shade Mils @ Showcase

Another one goal game between the Hwy 10 rivals, this time at the Showcase in North Battleford, as the Yorkton Terriers held off the Melville Millionaires 4-3 on Friday afternoon.

Rylan McDonnell and Torey Stott scored in the second period, after the two teams played to a scoreless first. Matt Chomyc made it 3-0 early in the second, before Justin Hollinger got the Mils on the board with his 10th of the year. Stott would add his 2nd of the night and 14th of the year to restore the 3-goal lead, but the Mils didn't go away.

Michael Jordan and Logan Herauf scored late, and the Terriers and Luke Boechler managed to fend off a late Melville charge in the dying minutes.

Boechler made 38 saves on 41 shots, and looked like he could be in line for a league-best 4th shutout, until the Terriers beat him with their 30th shot. Zach Rakochy made 31/35 saves for Melville.

The Mils leave the Showcase empty-handed with no points in their two games, while the Terriers stay in the Battlefords for one last night, finishing off their weekend tomorrow (SAT) against Estevan (1:50 on GX94).

I spoke with Ed Zawatsky, and the newest Terrier Drew McDermott after the game. McDermott was recently re-assinged by the Everett Silvertips and made his Terrier debut in Friday's win. You may have heard those conversations on GX94's 5:05 Sports this afternoon. I might post them from the hotel tonight.

Right now we're watching Weyburn/Estevan before we leave for supper.

One more sleep. I think I speak for the rest of the guys when I say the road trip's been about long enough. It's been fun though!
