Morden, Meilleur, Rakochy Named to World U-17's

A forward, a defenseman, and a goalie, all from GX94 clubs will play in the World Under-17 Hockey Championship during the holidays.

Swan Valley Stampeder D Evan Morden (left), Wayway Wolverines' RW Jens Meilleur (right) and Melville Millionaires' G Zach Rakochy (middle) will all be part of Team West, which is made up of 11 Saskatchewan, and 11 Manitoba-born players born in 1993 (16-year-olds).

Two of the three guys are also local products, with Morden from Swan River, and Rakochy from Canora, SK. Rakochy will also be joined at the U17's by his own Coach, as the Millionaires' Jamie Fiesel goes behind the bench for a second straight year, assisting former Notre Dame Hounds' Coach Mike Vandenberge.

Another local tie to Team West is defenseman Ryan Murray. The 16-year-old defenseman is a rookie phenom for the WHL's Everett Silvertips. His brother Nathan plays for the Yorkton Terriers.
