Tuesday Talk

Melville Millionaires' Defenseman Austin Krahenbil was named SJHL Defenesman of the Week. The 19-year-old Melville product had 3 points in 3 games this week. Krahenbil and the Millionaires head to Weyburn tonight (TUE). The Best-of-Seven series is tied 1-1. Game time tonight is 7:30, the Pre Game Show starts at 7:15 on GX94.

Former Melville Millionaire Jim Hiller was relieved of his duties as Head Coach of the Western Hockey League's Chilliwack Bruins. Hiller was the Bruins' bench boss since they came into the league in the 2006-07 season. After two successful seasons, Chilliwack went 19-46-2-5 in '08-09, finishing with 45 points, second last in the Western Confernce, and third fewest in the league.

Springside's Brett Breitkreuz (left) and the Edmonton Oil Kings travel to Prince Albert tonight (TUE) to face Yorkton product Justin Bernhardt and the Raiders in a one-game playoff to decide the final playoff position in WHL's Eastern Conference. The two teams were tied with 77 points. Prince Albert had 31 wins, two more than the Oil Kings, which gives them home ice for the tie-breaker. The winner plays the highly-touted Calgary Hitmen in Round 1 of the playoffs starting this weekend. Bernhardt finished the season 5th in WHL scoring, playing in all 72 games, scoring 35-goals, 57-assists for 92-points.

They're here! The Canada Cup of Curling begins tomorrow (WED) morning at the Gallagher Centre in Yorkton. The Canada Cup brings 10 of the best Men's and Women's teams from across the country to the city of Yorkton between Wednesday and Sunday. Most teams are arriving today, while some were here as early as yesterday, including Newfoundland's Brad Gushue (pictured), who came straight from the Brier. Brier finalists Kevin Martin and Jeff Stoughton will also be here.

And, just got the good word that we will have Games 4 and 5 of the Prairie Junior Hockey League's South Division Final between Fort Knox and the Pilot Butte Storm. The series is currently tied 1-1. Game 3 goes tonight in Fort Qu'Appelle, Game 4 is tomorrow (WED) in Pilot Butte, which will be our first broadcast, and then Friday's Game 5 back at the Rexentre in Fort Qu'Appelle.
