Wolverines Sweep Home and Home

Ryan Regel scored twice, giving him 3 goals in his last two games, to lead the Wayway Wolverines to a 4-1 win over the Swan Valley Stampeders last night, sweeping the Tuesday/Wednesday home and home by a combined scored of 11-2.

Paul Marcoux added his team-leading 27th goal of the season short-handed, while Chad Loewen opened the scoring for the Wolverines just 46 seconds into the contest. Saltcoats product Dylan Trowell responed for the Stampeders, who were out-shot 36-27. Jayme Janzen got the win, making 26 saves.

The win puts Wayway 4 points up on Neepawa for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Sherwood.

The Melville Millionaires lost for the 5th time in their last 6 games, suffering a 5-2 home ice loss to the Notre Dame Hounds last night.

Tyson Melnychuk and Daniel Hope (team-leading 23rd) scored for the Mils.

Hounds' goalie Kramer Barnstable was the story as he made 44 saves on 46 shots. Rylan Schwartz and John Esposito each had 1-goal and 2-assists for Notre Dame. Jaden Schwartz had 2-goals and Thomas Williams had 1-goal and 1-assist.

The Mils host Yorkton tomorrow (FRI) to kick off a home and home (7:20, GX94).
