5 months after tearing his ACL, Wayway Wolverines' 19-year-old goalie Deszi Wiens has his sights set on playing within the next month for the Wolverines. Wiens joined me on the second intermission of last night's 4-1 Wayway win in Swan Valley.
Wiens was 25-and-18 for Wayway as an 18-year-old last season, posting a 3.37 GAA, an .892 SV% and 2 shutouts. If Wiens is back, that'll leave Wayway with 3 capable goaltenders. Jayme Janzen, who's been their #1 guy all season (16-14-1-4, 2.90, .906%).
Also on the injury front, the Wolverines expected their leading scorer Jason Bowles back around now... but further tests revealed he'll be out of the lineup for another 2-3 weeks.
