Terriers Win; Wolves, Stamps Lose

In a game you may have heard on GX94, the Wayway Wolverines grabbed an early 2-0 lead on a short-handed goal by Logan Dew and a powerplay goal from Jordan Holovach, but the Dauphin Kings got the next 3 and wound up winning 4-3, after Wayway's Niko Grose tied the game late in the second. Angus Klassen had two goals, including the game winner, and an assist for Dauphin.

The Swan Valley Stampeders scored 4 second period goals, but dropped an 8-4 decision to the visiting Portage Terriers. Ryan Marshall, Craig Cornelson, Vincein Scott and Cramer Coulthart scored for the Stamps, while Ryan Audino scored 4 times for Portage.

--------------

The Yorkton Terriers held off the Notre Dame Hounds for a 4-3 win on home ice. The Terriers out-shot the Hounds 48-35. Travis Coghill had a goal and an assist, and was named the game's first star. Clarke Breitkreuz, Rylan McDonnell and Derek Serdachny also found the back of the net. Devin Peters made 32 saves in the win.

The Terriers head to Humboldt tomorrow (SUN) night at 6:00. We'll have the broadcast on GX94. I've got a personal-life prior engagement I absolutely can't get out of... so Randy Atkinson will have the play by play. He's done a few hundred more games than me so I don't even think he'll have to shake off the rust. He'll run my Greg Coburn Player Profile in the first intermission, and he'll talk to SJHL President Laury Ryan after the second period.

I'll be back in the saddle for a Swan/OCN home and home Tuesday and Wednesday.

My "personal-life prior engagement has me out of town... which also means I won't be able to cover the trade deadline as good as I want to. I usually come into work until midnight on deadline night and phone around, get comments, etc. Oh well... www.sjhl.ca and www.mjhlhockey.ca will have it all covered... I just like to take the local angles. Full recap Monday morning I guess... and blogging when I can.

Don Chesney came along to Dauphin tonight. Quote of the day? "Oh ya, it's a sad story, (Anonymous) is into the drugs real bad... and I mean real bad drugs. I'm not just talkin' a couple Labatt Lites during Super Bowl."

Happy weekend.
