Now THAT'S More Like It!

Both local SJHL teams broke out of funks over the weekend.

The Yorkton Terriers were without a win in 5 games, before last night's 6-0 shutout over the La Ronge Ice Wolves.

Bryan Hull had 2 goals and 1 assist... Nick Dietrich had a goal and a helper... Kirk Byczynski had 3 assists... Greg Coburn set up 2... while Clark Byczynski, Evan Neibrandt and Jordan Zalba also scored. Joel Danyluk made 26 saves for his second shutout this season.

Yorkton's got a home and home with the Melville Millionaires this Friday and Saturday.

---------------

The Mils beat La Ronge 6-3 on Saturday. Daniel Hope had 2 goals and 2 assists. Logan Herauf scored twice and added an assist. Newcomer Kelly Friesen scored his first two goals as a Millionaire. Tyler Murray had 3 assists, and Aaron Decorby set up 2.

The night before, Scott Doucet had 7 points as the Estevan Bruins beat the Mils 14-0.

And they may have lost 14-0... but it's not like they lost 3 games in 3 nights to severely hurt their chances of having home ice in the playoffs like another Sherwood Conference team just did. Hi Ryan! Just making sure you're reading. No hard feelings! I'll still do colour with you next weekend!

Meantime, MJHL All-Star weekend wrapped up in Selkirk yesterday with the All-Star Game itself.

In a score similar to the NHL All-Star Game, which happened the same day (12-11 in a SO), the Sherwood Division got by the Addison 14-13 in a shootout.

Paul Marcoux (pictured) of the Wayway Wolverines led all scorers with 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists).

Myles Stevens (Swan Valley Stampeders) chipped in with one assist for the Sherwood Division in the win.

There were a few too many goals to go over all the stats... aside from MJHL leading scorer Dan "No I Don't Get All My Points Against Beausejour" Watt, who racked up 2 goals and 2 assists against the Sherwood Division's best. So here's the Game Sheet... I'll let you have a look.
