Role Reversal

It'll be deja vu, or more like veja du (backwards, get it?) tonight when the Estevan Bruins come to Yorkton to face the Terriers.

I'll get the chance to do colour commentary with Voice of the Bruins Blaine Weyland on CJ1280. Blainer, of course, was my colourman last season and I think we worked well together.... and tonight we'll be switching chairs.

The game itself should be a good one. The 5th place Bruins have had the 4th place Terriers' number so far this season, going 3-0 in head to head matchups. Two of their wins came via the shootout, giving Yorkton an 0-1-0-2 record vs the Bru Crew.

How tough is the SJHL's Sherwood Conference? The Bruins are even .500 (15-15-2-3), and sit 5th. While in the Itech, the Melfort Mustangs are a game UNDER .500 (15-16-1-2), and that's good enough for second spot, 20 points back of first place Humboldt.

I'm excited for this one for a few reasons, as it'll be my first look at a few players. On opening night (Sep/12), I called the Melville Millionaires 3-2 win in Estevan, and haven't seen the Bruins since, so it'll be my first chance to watch Scott Doucet in the SJHL, and also newcomer Allias Kalinsky, who came over from the AJHL. Also for the Terriers, 20-year-old Jordan Zalba suits up for the second time after registering an assist in his debut Saturday, a 4-1 win over the Flin Flon Bombers. It'll also be my first look at Zalba.

Should be an exciting one... I've got tomorrow "off" as far as being at the radio station goes, but I've gotta get up just as early with the Melville Millionaires boarding the bus for Kindersley at 8:15 am. Can't wait for that trip... some huge games for the Mils, especially the two against Kindersley (Thu/Sat). The Klippers are 3rd in the Sherwood (18-8-0-4), but their 30 games played are fewest in the Conference... 2 less than Melville, and the Klippers trail the Mils by 8 points. If Kindersley was to win both, the lead could be as small as 4 points, and they'd then have 3 games in hand. The Mils head to North Battleford to face the North Stars in the middle of their swing Friday night. If the Mils can get 4 points or more on the trip, they SHOULD keep a comfortable lead atop the Conference heading into the new year.

See you at FAA tonight!

**Another Mils 100 Years of Memories feature is posted... caught up with former player and coach Ken Karius today.**
