Hull With 3.4 Seconds Left

Goals were at a premium on Yorkton's 2-game trip to Nipawin and Melfort this week, but the Terriers picked up 4 points, as Bryan Hull got the winner in both Tuesday's 2-0 win in Nipawin, and last night's 2-1 victory over the Mustangs in Melfort.

Hull's goal in Melfort came with 3.4 seconds to go in regulation, giving the Terriers their first lead of the game, after going 59:56.5 either trailing or tied. Jordan Menke got Yorkton's first goal, while it was Melfort's Deven Stillar notching his 20th to open the scoring late in the second period. That kid's a dandy. Devin Peters made 19 saves on 20 shots for his 11th win.

- I gave Hull a hard time on the bus, since I had to give him yet another Parkland Concessions Game-Winning Goal $10 gift certificate. He's got 4 goals on the season, and 3 of them have earned him the gift card. I've also only given them out 4 times, and of course Hull's won 3 of them, with Cody Zubko getting the other. Obviously the Terriers have to win, and the game has to be on the radio for the game winning goal-scorer to get the $10.

- I try to stay away from rink food. I figure the kilos of carbs consumed in pre game meals in the form of Spaghetti or Lasagna which the players burn off and I don't are enough to keep my round shape without delving into the burgers/mozza sticks/hot dogs/fries/onion rings, etc... not to mention the post game pizza or fast food burgers enjoyed while riding the bus watching movies or playing the PSP (I swear I played like half a Madden season in the last 2 days). But I will usually have a pre game coffee on the road, and Melfort's got the best in the league. It's the real "Van Houtte" brand you'll find in some convenience stores, with REAL cream, not coffee whitener powder... they actually keep a pail of ice with a carton of cream in it and that makes all the difference.

Unfortunatley that was my last trip to the North Lights Ice Palace this season. Not just for the coffee... it's also the best broadcast location in the SJHL.

---------------

The Melville Millionaires made sure to not allow a losing streak to develop heading into the Christmas break, following up Tuesday's 4-2 loss in Weyburn with a 3-1 win over the Estevan Bruins at the Stadium. The Mils were out-shot 38-23, but Travis Bosch made 37 saves to preserve the win. Levi Lind had a goal and an assist (17pts in last 9GP), Daniel Hope had 2-assists, while Tyler Murray and Logan Herauf each scored. The Mils round out the pre-holiday sked Saturday at home against Melfort... the Mustangs are in Yorkton tomorrow (FRI).

In Manitoba, Neepawa @ Swan Valley... and Wayway @ OCN were both postponed.
