I seem to always forget one thing on road trips. My first trip working with GX last season, it was my ENTIRE overnight bag (I left it in my car, which was left at the radio station)... had to go the Wal-Mart in North Battleford to buy a cheap change of clothes and some bathroom stuff. Forgot the phone cord once already this year. I got to Swan River and it wasn't in with my gear. Quick trip to Merv's Audiotronic with my good buddy Jeremy (Stampeder Super Fan) saved the day right before they closed. Other times it's little things, like my commerical log, or the sheet with the powerplay contestants, maybe a pen, etc. This time... it was dress shoes. Typically I'll just wear my dress shoes the entire trip... but with us leaving Melville just after 8:00 this morning, I wanted to be half-comfortable on the bus, so I was "scrubbin' it" in a sweat shirt, jeans, a touque, and sneakers... and planned on bringing the dress shoes to change into. Oops. Wal-Mart to the rescue again, this time in Kindersley... luckily our hotel's about a 2-minute walk from Wally World. Found a nice (enough) slip-on pair for an even nicer price ($16.92!).
I'm rooming with Mils' Trainer Dave Melnychuk for this 3-day, 2-night trip... and I was warned. Ass't Coach Neil Lamberty said it'll be a thousand degrees in there... and I think he's right... it's toasty in here right now. Guess Melly likes it warm!
So Kindersley tonight, Battleford tomorrow, and back here against the Klippers again on Saturday. We're staying at the Kindersley Inn the whole time, which makes it easy. Remember Kindersley games are 7:00 starts, so we're on the air with the Pre Game Show at 6:50 tonight. Our Mils' Alumni Guest for tonight's second intermission will be Len Wassill, and we'll also hear from Ken Karius and another former Millionaire Jim Hiller, the current Head Coach of the WHL's Chilliwack Bruins during the trip. Again, all the "100 Years of Memories" features are available at the link in the top right corner of this page.
Quick apology to the many fans of the Saturday Night Get Together. We had to make up a game due to technical difficulties earlier in the year, and this was the only date that worked out. At least it's a 7:00 game, which means the "Get Together" should hit the air by shortly after 9:00, with 8:00 being it's usual start time. For that reason there will probably be little if any Post Game Show... and there ALSO won't be a Pre Game Show, with Kinsmen Radio Bingo on the air from 6:30 to 7:00. We'll come on immediately following that, likely with the drop of the puck, maybe Oh Canada.
3 big games for the Mils as they try to keep their lead atop the Sherwood Conference.
Alright, lunch time. Steak.
Hope ya listen!
