I was on the road quite a bit the last couple weeks before Christmas and sort of put off posting the Coach's Shows, since I couldn't when I wasn't at the radio station. Trying to start fresh today... you'll find Ed Zawatsky and the Yorkton Terriers' Show by clicking the Weekly Coach's Shows link.

With SJHL teams having anywhere from 34 to 40 games played at the Christmas break, the standings might be a little skewed... so here they are with winning percentages, a stat I like to keep. Anyone with a calculator can do it (points divided by possible points), and of course teams likely won't keep the same pace the entire year, but still, a good stat for a hockey nerd like myself. Overall league rankings are in brackets, followed by # of games remaining.
Sherwood Conference
1. (2) Melville Millionaires .724% (18 GR)
2. (3) Weyburn Red Wings .638% (16)
3. (4) Kindersley Klippers .618% (22)
4. (5) Yorkton Terriers .608% (19)
5. (7) Estevan Bruins .475% (16)
6. (10) Notre Dame Hounds .395% (18)
Key #'s: Kindersley's 22 games remaining compared to Weyburn's 16 could play a big factor. Yorkton's arguably the hottest team in the league right now but will their improved play be enough to get them into the top 3? They'll likely also have to rely on Kindersley to drop at least half of those games in hand, or have Weyburn fall two places if the Terriers want to avoid a second straight Survivor Series with Estevan. As voice of the Terriers and Mils, here's me hoping BOTH teams crack the top 3!
Itech Conference
1. (1) Humboldt Broncos .851% (19)
2. (6) Flin Flon Bombers .568% (19)
3. (8) Melfort Mustangs .449% (17)
4. (9) Nipawin Hawks .431% (20)
5. (11) Battlefords North Stars .338% (19)
6. (12) La Ronge Ice Wolves .309% (17)
I think this will look very similar come mid-February. Obviously Humboldt's got the Itech cased, Flin Flon doesn't look like they're moving, I like Battleford to make the playoffs and La Ronge to possibly be "sellers" in the next two weeks and be on the outside looking in. The only question lies in the 3-4 positions. Nipawin's been catching fire and has 3 games in hand on Melfort and just might make a late charge and sneak into the Top 3.
