Kings (10-4-1) @ Stamps (4-9-2-1)

These two teams are separated by just one position in the standings, but 10 points are between the 4th place Dauphin Kings and 5th place Swan Valley Stampeders.

Swan Valley leading goal scorer Craig Cornelson will miss some time, after breaking is jaw on a hit by Portage forward Cory More over the weekend. Cornelson has 9 goals and 13 points in 15 games. More was handed a 2-game suspension for the hit.

Stampeder goaltender Chris Ward has faced an average of 36 shots per game, and don't let his 3.76 GAA and .895 % fool you. He IS the Stampeders' MVP.

Myles Stevens is right there with him, missing 4 games due to suspension this season but leads the team with 19 points in 12 games. The injured Cornelson is next, followed by defenseman Justin Giesbrecht with 10 pts. The Stamps are looking for more offense, having found the back of the net just 41 times in 16 games (2.56/game).

This is a very good Dauphin Kings' team, and they're probably mad... having lost at home recently to both Neepawa and Winkler. They've scored the second most goals in the Sherwood Division, potting 67 goals in 15 games (4.67/game).

Dauphin's Richard Jodoin rides a 14 game point streak into tonight's game. He has points in every game he's played in this season, with 15-goals and 11-assists over that span. Impressive. And maybe a little surprising considering he's second in the league in PIMs with 86. The Stampeders ended Portage sniper Eric Delong's hefty point streak on Saturday, maybe they can do the same to Jodoin...?

This is a very good Dauphin team, I predicted at the start of the season they'd be fighting it out with Portage for top spot, and they still can. While Dauphin's fourth, they're 2 points out of second and 3 back of first.

It's also a big game for the Stampeders, who take a 3-game losing streak into tonight's game. I know it's early and a lot can change, but the Stamps are 10 points out of a playoff spot in the Sherwood, and one point out of a crossover position into the Addison. It's probably too early to talk about now, but don't be surprised if that comes up more and more as the season progresses.

7:20 Pre Game Show / 7:30 Play by Play from the Centennial Arena in Swan River tonight on GX94.
