Monday Morning Mumblings

  • Not a bad weekend for our GX94 teams. No one's got a regulation loss through opening weekend. Melville's 2-0, Yorkton and Wayway both 1-0, and Swan Valley 0-0-0-1.
  • Had a chance to golf in the Melville Millionaires' tournament yesterday. Felt kinda weird, because I sort of was out of golf mode... and it showed! My foursome included Mils' defenseman Kirk Mastad, who is from McCord, SK, not Glentworth.
  • Had my first COMPLAINT on this blog over the weekend. It was a Terrier fan, maybe a parent (they posted anonymously), upset we did the Melville game on Friday instead of the Yorkton game. It was a no-brainer for me. We're asked by the teams to limit the amount of home games we do. Melville was on the road, Yorkton was at home. Yorkton's on the road tonight, and we'll broadcast. Terriers @ Notre Dame 8:00.
  • 8-and-3 ain't bad. The Riders will rebound vs the Lions Saturday at home.
  • Denver Broncos' Coach Mike Shannhan is BALLSY! Went for a 2-point conversion to WIN by one instead of kicking the convert to go to overtime, and GETS IT to beat San Diego 38-37.
  • Happy Birthday Grandma Phyllis! I know you don't have a computer, but happy 83rd. G & G Stein moved off the farm a mile, and have been right in the big town of Simpson for, must be close to 25 years by now.
  • And I switched the template of the site back to green because the blue one was giving me problems. I'd scroll down, scroll back up and chunks of the text would be missing. Oh well, I like the green. Two reasons... it's neutral, not one of our four Junior 'A' teams have the slightest bit of green on their uniforms, and, you guessed it, Riders.

I'll talk a little about tonight's Terriers/Hounds game a little later on, but for now it's GX94 Sports time. Later.

Mr. Stein it wasn't a complaint, but a question, you are a Yorkton station so why are you doing Melville games instaed of Yorkton

Craig Stein said...

like i said our station does games for 4 jr a teams between sask and manitoba. no one team gets GREAT coverage because they have to share with 3 others, but i like to think all 4 get very good coverage.

further to that... MOST teams in the SJHL have their games broadcast, and they normally stick to road games also. friday's game was on the air on weyburn's station. their games stream at www.discoverweyburn.com . CS

Tim,

Like it or not, CJGX serves over 250,000 people in a huge radius that serves not only Melville but goes into Manitoba.

It's a business and GX is trying to make everybody happy and make some $$$$ by selling advertising from different communities but that cannot always be done.

I personally don't like they we get MJHL games but I do understand the business side of it.
