The WMBL's East Division standings got even more interesting tonight.
One day after Melville swept a double header over Yorkton in Melville, the two teams met again on Saturday night. The Cards had the bats going early, scoring 5 runs in the first 3 innings. Melville quickly tied it, and it was 5-5 after 4, and stayed that way until the top of the 9th, when Mils 1st baseman Josh Corriea launched a solo homer to right, kick-starting a 5 run ninth inning, and after a 1-2-3 home half, the Mils left Yorkton with the 10-5 win.
With the win, and a Regina loss in Saskatoon, Melville's just 2.5 games back of the Red Sox for first, and those two teams meet in Melville Sunday night at 7:30.
The Cardinals on the other hand... are just one game ahead of last place Weyburn... and THOSE 2 teams meet Sunday in Yorkton at 7:05. A couple of big games for sure, I'll have to go to one of them for sure, just have to decide which. Don't tell anyone, but I'll probably be showing up a little late to either one (Rider game will go until 8:00!).
