I regret saying I'm going on holidays and likely won't post for the next few days (going to Cypress Hills for a reunion tomorrow till Monday), because then you won't come back to look for anything new. But I'm not gonna lie. I'm off today (FRI) and then all next week, then that's it for holidays until next year, and Christmas of course. A few things to keep in mind over the next few days:
- Yorkton Cardinals in Swift Current for playoffs Fri/Sat. Home on Sun/Mon (Mon if necessary)
- Melville Millionaires in Regina for Game 1 of their Best of Five Friday. Game 2 Sat in Melville... they'll alternate venues everyday until the series is decided.
- 2008 Sask Summer Games are in Lloydminster August 3rd to 9th. 136 players and coaches from Zone 4 are competing.
- Those are the big ones. A couple announcements are coming up which I won't release on here. One from the MJHL, one from the SJHL, each about a team we cover. Okay, the MJHL one is ex-Stampeder getting a scholarship at Northern Michigan. Vigier's signed with the USHL's Sioux City Musketeers for the upcoming season, but the Swan Valley Stampeders DESERVE the credit, and should get it. He hasn't played a shift in the USHL yet, and he's the reigning MJHL Rookie of the Year, played in the CJAHL Prospects game, the MJHL All-Star Game, led the Stampeders with 37 goals and 86 points as a 17 year old, and scored two huge overtime goals in the playoffs against Portage. THAT's what got him the scholly, in my opinion. It's not for this season though, it's for 2009-10, possibly even 10-11, that's one of the things not quite official. It should be by Tuesday, so listen to GX94 and Fox FM for the details. I tell you this because I think everyone knows anyway. It's on the MJHL Forum, which isn't always legit, but I've heard it from enough people "in the know." The other announcement is fairly 'hush-hush', but a couple people asked me about it at the ball park the other night, so I guess it's out there in some circles. My lips are sealed until August 14th, when it's officially announced.
Enjoy your long weekend! Riders and Stamps on Saturday!
