Golfin' with the Terriers and Mils

Well I have to say I was a little surprised at how well the Mils and Terriers get along. Atleast on the golf course. I was a last minute recruit to join the Yorkton Terriers team at the Painted Hand Casino tournament at York Lake yesterday. Our foursome was a man short, so myself, along with Assistant Coach/Trainer Ron Holloway and 20 year old forward Bryan Hull were in tough against the Mils' powerhouse foursome of Jamie Fiesel, Neil Lamberty, President Darcy Gettel and scout Marty Read. They were in the neighbourhood of -7 and I believe we were +2. I was the straggler of the group on this day. Short game was not bad but I'm hitting my driver erratically so far this season. Hull "says" he's never golfed before, but he saved us on a few holes. Ronny was solid, and so was Melville's entire team. It's another short "work" day for me today, as I'm off to the Deer Park today for the "Dollars for Scholars Golf Classic" starting at 11:00. We've got a station team with Promotions Extraordinare Glen Brezinski, and Sales Gurus Keith Spanier and Colin Laird. Yesterday's sunburn will get doubled today I'm sure. I'm hoping to get back for round one of the NHL Draft, but that looks doubtful. The free golf and food should soften the blow, however. You'd think with all these free rounds of golf, I'd eventually get good, but it's not happening. I was thrilled with my first 9-hole round of the year when I shot 45 (for me, that's great)... but I've gotten worse every time.

I missed the Yorkton Cardinals and Sherwood Park ball game, because I got home at about 7:00 and I crashed hard. A full round of golf on the first HOT day of the year and a full belly, I couldn't keep my eyes open. Slept from about 7:15 to 5:15 this morning, yep, 10 hours. But boy did I need it and feel great today! Back to my orginal thought, that Cardinals/SP Dukes game was suspended due to rain after a 11 innings! The game was still tied 1-1. Guessed I missed a good one, but I didn't miss a complete game. The two teams meet Sunday again at 2:05. They'll finish the Thursday's game at 2:05, then play a full game immediately after. I had no idea it rained, because I was sawing logs by 10:00, so I'll spend Sunday afternoon at Jubilee Park.
