Tight Tuesday Nighters

The Yorkton Terriers are winless in four, following a 3-2 loss Tuesday in Nipawin.

Craig Eisenhut scored twice, to give the Terriers 1-0 and 2-1 leads, but Nipawin tied it both times, and won it with 2:01 remaining.

Don't look now, but the Kindersley Klippers won their 7th straight on Tuesday, and are now 9 points back of Yorkton with 2 in hand.

The Terriers were without Robbie Ciolfi (Upper Body) and Clarke Breitkreuz (Flu) in Nipawin, and had a handful of AP's, including twin brothers Chase and Brady Norrish, both defenseman from the Beardy's Blackhawks.

This mid-week swing doesn't get easier for the Terriers, who visit Brayden Metz and the Melfort Mustangs tonight. Yes, you read that right! Read the post below if you're confused!

Kindersley blanked ND 4-0, while the other SJ game on Tuesday saw Travis Eggum score a hat trick, as La Ronge beat Humboldt 7-4. He's back up to a GAG, with 37 goals in 37 games. Ridonkulous.

--------------

Our two local MJHL teams were both involved in separate 2-1 shootout games on Tuesday.

I was in Portage with the Swan Valley Stampeders, who trailed 1-0 for much of the game before Clarke Byczynski tied it early in the third.

The Stamps lost 2-1 in a shootout, with goaltender Jayson Argue making 39/40 saves.

--------------

The Wayway Wolverines got the split they were hoping for in OCN, with a 2-1 (SO) win.

Shane Goodrunning scored his 28th of the season in regulation, while Paul Vandevelde and Dave Williams scored in the shootout.

The Wolverines out-shot the Blizzard 35-19, with Ryan Benitez getting the win in his second straight start.

That boosts Wayway's record to 16-19-5, but they remain 4 points back of Neepawa, after the Natives won 4-2 over the Saints.

---------------

I was between Russell and Binscarth, MB when I found out Metz to Melfort was finally a done deal... so I couldn't exactly get a detailed post up... but the details are just that... Metz to Melfort for futures.

I don't expect the "futures" to be made public until after the season, but I'll talk about the deal with Coach Jamie Fiesel this morning at 10:40, and I'll post the Coach's Show around that time as well.

This is a SPLASH, and I think it'll set off ripple effects thoughout the league.

If other rumours end up happening, the Metz trade might be the second biggest among our four teams to happen in the days ahead.

STAY TUNED!

Would that other team be Swan as there are rumors floating around town?
