Despite the talk of his defensive skills, Simmons was drafted by Atlanta as a Pitcher. He was hitting mid to high nineties this spring at school. Two other Cards were selected; Dillon Wilson will be joining Longmire in the Show-Me State after being selected in round 43 by Kansas City, and Casey Sadler was selected in the 23rd round by Pittsburgh, where he will join former Card Anthony Claggett in the Pirates minor leagus system.
