The Mils picked up G Deszi Wiens and D Tyson Newell (pictured) from the Waywayseecappo Wolverines on deadline day, and Wiens made 28 saves on 30 shots, while Newell scored in the first period of a 4-2 win over the Bauer Conference-leading Flin Flon Bombers.
Michael Jordan also scored in the opening frame, Mark Owen scored the winner late in the second, and Brayden Metz added an empty netter for the Millionaires (18-21-2-1).
Full marks as well to Bombers' goalie Matt Weninger, who lost in regulation for just the 6th time this season, stopping 40 of the 44 pucks the Millionaires threw at him.
The win for Melville puts them back into a 4th place time with Yorkton. The Terriers have one game in hand... hard to believe considering just before Christmas it was the Millionaires who had as many as 4 games in hand on their Highway 10 Rivals.
The Millionaires ended a 5 game losing skid with Tuesday's win, while the Bombers, surprisingly enough are 0-and-3 in 2010, and continue down the Highway to Yorkton tonight (WED, 7:30 FAA).
Melville's next action is IN Flin Flon on Saturday, before finishing their mini-trip in Melfort on Sunday (5:50 / 6:00 on GX94).
---------------------------
The Wayway Wolverines' winning streak ended at two, as they fell 3-2 in Neepawa on Tuesday.
Certainly a tough loss to take, as the Wolverines did take the lead midway into the third period on a goal by Niko Grose, assisted by linemates Ryan Regel and Paul Van de Velde, who made his return to Wayway after being re-assigned by the Brandon Wheat Kings.
Jens Meilleur scored Wayway's first goal, while Brett Gagnon was impressive stopped 37/40 Neepawa shots.
Wayway's in Swan Valley tonight (WED) (7:20 / 7:30 on GX94).
The Stampeders will have former OCN Blizzard Jordan Sinclair in the lineup for the first time.
Swan Valley would have definitely preferred a Neepawa loss to Wayway looking at the playoff race, but the did get a favour from the Dauphin Kings, who hung on to beat Portage 5-4 on the road, after seeing a 4-1 lead slip away before Ryan Dreger added his MJHL-leading 37th of the season late in the third for the win.
The Stamps still lead Portage by 8 points for second place, and the Terriers now have just one game in hand, after grabbing just 1 of a possible 6 points to begin the New Year.
