Stamps Hand Kings First Home Loss

The Swan Valley Stampeders did something no one else has done all season... beat the Dauphin Kings at Credit Union Place. The Kings were 20-0 on home ice going into last night's game, but the Stamps came away with the 5-4 win.

Swan Valley was out-shot 48-29, but goaltender Jayme Janzen was... in one word... SENSATIONAL.

He made one save in the second period that was the most amazing stop I've seen this year (maybe ever!). Out of his net, even without his stick I believe... one of Dauphin's forwards ripped a shot from the slot and he dove back into his net and got a blocker on it. He also robbed Devin Mitzner with a great glove save in the third period, and stopped several late point-blank chances in the game's final minute, as the Kings out-shot the Stamps 16-4 in the final frame.

Chris Reimer (32nd), Shelby Gray, Carter Selinger, Myles Stevens and Ryan Marshall scored for the Stamps, who went scored on their only powerplay chance of the game, while Dauphin went 2/4 with the PP.

The Stampeders are now 16-3-2-3 in their last 24 games, and are off until Wednesday when they host the Wayway Wolverines (7:20 / 7:30 on GX94).

-----------------

The Wayway Wolverines did the Stampeders a little favour, beating Portage in overtime 3-2.

Ryan Regel scored both goals in regulation, while Joe Carney potted the OT winner.

Brett Gagnon made 20/22 saves.

Tyler Moore scored both Terrier goals, and has scored each of his team's last 5 goals, after a natural hat trick against Steinbach on Thursday. Portage still gets a point, and now trail the 2nd place Stampeders by 8 points with 3 games in hand.

Don't get me wrong, Wayway winning helps themselves out, too. It's their 10th win of the season, and hey, the fat lady hasn't sung yet.

---------------------

The news wasn't so good on the Saskatchewan side of the border, as the Terriers and Mils both lost home games.

Melfort 3 @ Yorkton 2

La Ronge 4 @ Melville 1

Melfort and La Ronge switch places for tonight's games, Ice Wolves @ Terriers... Mustangs @ Mils.

----------------------

This Sports Guy's reading the afternoon news on GX94 from 12:00 - 6:00 on Saturday... so it's time for some shuteye... might check out the Terriers, as Joel Danyluk could quite possibly be in goal against his old team.

I'll be running lots of Trade Deadline Preview stuff on the air Saturday too, so do tune in!

I hope Yorkton makes some good trades. We need scorers, and we don't got them. I'm hoping Joel Danyluk plays tonight. Thanks Craig, for your blog. I check it everyday.
