Terriers 1 @ Humboldt 5

The Yorkton Terriers went winless on a 2-game road trip into the Bauer Conference, following up Tuesday's 5-2 loss in Nipawin with a 5-1 defeat at the hands of the 3-time defending champion Broncos in Humboldt on Wednesday.

John Niebrandt scored his first career SJHL goal in just his second game. The 17-year-old ripped a wrist shot over the glove of Matthieu Larochelle on a powerplay early in the second period. Nick Keller (2), Spencer Baht, Spencer Braaten, and Andrew Johnson scored for Humboldt.

Larochelle had a relatively easy night, stopping 17 of 18 shots, while Devin Peters made 36 saves on 41 shots in the loss.

Special teams again proved to be the difference as the Broncos scored on 3-straight powerplays in the first period, going 3-for-5 in the opening frame. The Terrier PK buckled down the rest of the way, killing three 5-on-3's, and the final 7 Broncos PP's, keeping them to 3-for-11 on the night. Niebrandt's goal made the Terriers 1-for-6.

The Terriers are on a 3-game losing streak, and have scored just 4 goals during the streak, but all 3 were away from home, and they return to the friendly confines Saturday when they host the Battlefords North Stars at 7:30.
