Stamps Get Some National Recognition

The Swan Valley Stampeders received an honourable mention in this week's CJHL rankings. The Stampeders are 6-and-3, and while 3 of those wins have come against the winless Steinbach Pistons, the Stamps are showing some serious promise early in the season, boasting the league's highest scoring line in Ryan Marshall (10-9-19), Darcy Riddell (6-11-17) and Carter Selinger (4-10-14), and also the league's top-scoring defenseman Brent Wilson (3-10-13).

The Dauphin Kings vaulted up the National Rankings into the #2 slot.

Ryan Marshall nearly defended his Week 1 Player of the Week crown, being named a runner up after scoring 4 goals and 10 points in just 3 games this week. Dauphin's Ryan Dreger was also a runner up with 8 points in his last 3 games, but the honour went to Portage Terrier forward Tyler Moore, for his 5 goals and 9 points over his last 3 contests.

The first SJHL POW's were also named... and the La Ronge Ice Wolves and Notre Dame Hounds cleaned up, for their somewhat surprising first place starts. The Wolves' F Ben Findlay won Player of the Week, scoring 3-goals and 9-points to top the league leaders in points. La Ronge D Mike Alexander took the nod for Top Defenseman, racking up 8 points (3 goals) so far. Notre Dame's Devan Dubyk was the league's top goalie, beginning the season 2-1-0-1, with a 1.69 GAA and .935%. Dubyk hails from Minitonas, MB, and is a former Parkland Ranger.
