Sask U19 Football Champs / WMBL

Congratulations to Yorkton's R.J. Skinner and the rest of Saskatchewan's Under-19 Football team on a National Gold Medal at the Football Canada Cup in Saskatoon. Team Sask beat Alberta 17-4 on Saturday night at Griffiths Stadium.

The Yorkton Cardinals split their doubleheader in Edmonton Friday, winning 1-0 and losing 5-0.

Melville had a tough trip to Weyburn Friday, losing both games of a twinbill, 6-2 and 3-2. The Beavers were on an 8-game losing streak heading into Friday's games.

But, the Mils, despite roughly 9 hours on the bus from Weyburn to Edmonton, won a wild one over the Prospects 10-9 on Saturday. The Millionaires scored 8 runs in the 6th inning to go up 10-1, but the Prospects rallied with 8 in the bottom of the 9th, including a grand slam. Kevin Crumb came in to get the save when there were none out in a one-run game. He struck out 2, and got a ground-ball for the win.

In Melville's 8-run 6th, Brandon Morgan, Josh Corriea and Kyle Barclay all homered. All 9 Mils' starters had at least one hit, as the team combined for 17. Morgan was 3-6, 4 RBI... Corriea 3-5, 3 RBI... James Green 3-3, 2 R, 2 BB. For more stats click here.

The Mils have a matinee this (SUN) afternoon in Edmonton. They're in Regina tomorrow, while Yorkton's off until Tuesday when they host Weyburn.
